Firebirds fight hunger! Twice the Bloomfield Firebirds baseball teams have tried to fight hunger with specific holiday-focused food drives. The first was a very successful Thanksgiving food drive and the second a Valentine’s Day effort.
In the wake of an unprecedented 2020 the Firebirds have shifted to simply wanting to fight hunger, and maybe more importantly, fight food insecurity in the Metro Detroit area. Our efforts will hopefully help to keep the Lighthouse pantry well-stocked throughout the year.
Our first collection took place last Sunday. Our next collection will take place on Sunday, December 6th. We will be collecting pantry items for Lighthouse, from 11am to Noon, in the parking lot of the International Academy on Square Lake Road. Pull up; pop the trunk; and Firebirds players will take care of the rest.
If you you are reading this and can’t donate food, then there are two more options:
- Donate directly to Lighthouse. Any amount is accepted.
- Maybe leave a note in the Tribute Gift box. It would be nice to learn how much the Bloomfield Firebirds helped in this specific capacity.
- Send money to the Bloomfield Firebirds Venmo (@Chad-Perry-29) and we will buy additional food to donate.
Our boys are lucky they have the opportunity to play travel baseball. Our boys are lucky to have parents that can provide the opportunity to play travel baseball. But we don’t wait for luck on the baseball diamond. Hard work and effort provides our results on the diamond.
Our efforts to help Lighthouse will hopefully also show the boys that hard work and effort can be directed to any aspect of life. This time, hopefully we can make someone else’s life a little better.
